Submission Guidelines
Starting September 21, 2012 prospective applicants to MICA's graduate community may upload a portfolio of artwork via mica.slideroom.com for review by graduate faculty. Please upload work to the 2012 ONLINE PORTFOLIO REVIEW program on SlideRoom, under the REVIEW EVENTS heading. Please note that materials uploaded to the application area will not be reviewed. During the upload process, select the program(s) that will review the portfolio. All portfolios must be received by October 19, 2012 to be reviewed. Although writing sample may be submitted as part of the review process, they are not required. Please note that SlideRoom charges a $10 submission fee in order to process and store your work for review.
The Office of Graduate Admission recommends reviewing each program's specific guidelines before uploading a portfolio. Program-specific requirements can be viewed by visiting Graduate Admission Procedures. Please note that a separate application and portfolio must be uploaded by January 15th, 2013 for application review.
Feedback
Participating students will receive feedback from graduate faculty beginning October 25, 2012 and concluding around November 15, 2012. Feedback will be sent to the email address provided when the portfolio is uploaded. MICA's graduate faculty provide short, specific critical feedback to your portfolio. This could include suggestions, critique, responses to specific pieces or simply a general review of your portfolio as a whole. A typical response is approximately 200 words.
No final decisions or admission offers will be made during the portfolio review; please complete all required application requirements by January 15th, 2012 to be considered for graduate admission. If you have any questions about these portfolio reviews, please contact Chris Harring, Associate Director of Graduate Admission, at charring@mica.edu.
