About this Gallery

"The inspired landscape painting of Philip Koch has two distinct sources of originality. The first is the artist's subjective imagination and how he responds to the geography of place. The second, and perhaps equally important, is his fidelity to the American landscape artists of the 19th and early 20 centuries. Appreciating contemporary American landscape painting as a continuous dialogue with the land itself, while at the same time recognizing the importance of art historical precedence is the organizing theme of this exhibit." - Robert Donovan, Assistant Director, Art Program, University of Maryland University College (UMUC).
