Orientation Fee

Technology Fee
All students at the Maryland Institute College of Art are assessed a mandatory "Technology Fee." MICA's Technology Fee provides partial funding for MICA's overall investment in technology throughout the campus. MICA's technology systems, services and facilities require constant updating and expansion to ensure the college remains technologically competitive in supporting our students' needs. This fee supports our wireless network, smart classrooms, computer labs, classroom software, fiber-optic network, the My MICA portal, AV services, and related technologies that students and faculty need for their education and art making.
Student Life Fee
The Student Life fee supports a wide variety of resources and programs that support student wellness and strengthen the co-curricular experience. This fee allows most campus events to be free for students, and the remaining events are provided at a reduced cost. This fee supports MICA Fitness, Student Counseling, and enables students to have free access to both resources. Additionally, students have access to free care at MICA Student Health Services, although there is a cost for some services and tests. The Student Life fee also helps support other critical functions such as the College's Shuttle service.
Student Life Fee - Low Residency (MFAST & MAED)
The Student Life fee supports a wide variety of resources and programs that support student wellness and strengthen the experience for Low Residency Graduate Students during the summer session. The fee supports MICA Fitness, Student Counseling, and enables students to have free access to both resources. Additionally, students have access to free care at MICA Student Health Services, although there is a cost for some services and tests. The Student Life fee also helps support functions such as the College's Evening Shuttle Service. The Student Life fee also helps to provide support for Low Residency Students in the GradLab.
Housing Damage Deposit
A $250 Housing Damage Deposit will be charged at the beginning of the student's first semester residing on campus. Once the student leaves campus housing or graduates, a refund may be requested from Residence Life and Off-Campus Housing, minus any adjustments for room damages or lost keys.
