The Lazarus Legacy Committee would like to thank all of those members of the MICA family who have submitted wonderful ideas to honor Fred and Jonna Lazarus and the impact they have had on arts, education, and the City of Baltimore.
We are pleased to announce events, activities, and honors that will take place in spring 2014 to commemorate the historic tenure of President and Mrs. Lazarus and celebrate MICA's growth and contributions to art and culture over the past 35 years. Following is a partial list; additional updates to come.
Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of MICA are invited to submit postcard size artistic tributes centered on the theme of Fred Lazarus' legacy for the Tiny Tributes exhibition. The collection will be on display at upcoming Legacy events as well as digitally archived and viewable online. Pick up blank postcards at stations around MICA's campus beginning January 21st (the first day of classes).
Curious about something that has happened during President Lazarus' tenure, beginning September 1978? Why is the Gateway shaped like a cylinder? What was it like coming to MICA as a young president? How did Artscape start?
