While meeting up with a friend in the Fox Building, John was introduced to Christina. "She was sitting cross-legged laughing quite merrily while holding a small Boston terrier."

"We don't really know when we started dating," John continues, "but we definitely felt like we were being set up when friends invited us separately to dinner. They knew something we didn't."

Christina graduated from the Mount Royal School of Art a year before John was to graduate from the Photography and Digital Imaging program, and she became a fixture in his studio-so much so that the front-desk guards would tease them every time John had to come escort her in.

Now, 10 years later, they may get the same joke. John teaches in the photography department at MICA, where the couple also had an exhibition together last spring.

John and Christina, who works at Southwest Airlines, married in 2009.
