BALTIMORE--Just in time for the holiday shopping season, graphic design faculty Zvezdana Stojmirovic's Fashion Graphics class at MICA will sell their wares at The Shine Collective, a boutique in Hampden, Dec. 4-30. As part of their classwork, the graphic design students fabricated merchandise that runs the gamut from felt flower brooches to woodwork cufflinks.
Ece Ciper's PillowFight is a collection of 10 pillows expressing some fightin’ words. Bri Antonaccio's jewelry is made from recycled guitar strings, including a pair of fashion-forward earrings titled Antonaccio. And many more.
Taught by Stojmirovic and assisted by MICA graphic design student Ben Bours and M.F.A. in graphic design student Wesley Stuckey, the Fashion Graphics class has students design, create, brand and market products, including jewelry, clothing and home décor.
Students showing at Shine include: Antonaccio, Ciper, Alex Coyle, Tara Dahabsu, Minyoung Kim, Laura Levy, Cecilia Oh, Sunny Oh, Sophia Ra, Laura Rasmussen, Avery Scott II, Danielle Sherrod, Sam Thurman, Rachael Umbriano and Whitney Wright.
An opening night reception with the artists on Friday, Dec. 4, 7 to 9 p.m., will feature live music by Infraction, an alternative rock band from Hanover, Penn. The Shine Collective is located at 1007 W. 36th St.
