MICA's Master of Arts in Art Education (MAAE) prepares experienced K-12 artist-educators to pursue advancement in their field through the development of their practice as both artists and art educators. Designed for the working professional, the curriculum allows students to continue teaching while they complete their graduate degree.
Amber Ward, a graduate of MICA's MA in Art Education program, is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Missouri, where she is studying art education, along with international development and studio work in fibers. She is recipient of the University of Missouri's Verna Wulfekammer Art Education Doctoral Fellowship for 2012-2013.
Ward also currently teaches visual art courses to children grades kindergarten through five, and is a graduate research assistant at the University of Missouri. She previously taught Pre-AP visual art courses to grades seven and eight at Shawnee Mission School District in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, as well as visual art courses to grades six through eight at Weld County School District 6 in Greely, Colorado.
