Information Visualization (Online MPS)

MICA's MPS in Information Visualization prepares students from a variety of fields to translate their existing skills to the visualization industry and related areas. The first such MPS of its kind offered by an art college, the program was created specifically for artists and designers as well as professionals working in fields where the management of complex data through visualization is essential-including architecture, urban planning, homeland security, health, social networking, business, and more.

More About the MPS in Information Visualization

As the global demand for communicating visually increases, the need for designers who have the trifecta of creative talent, intellectual prowess, and technical skills will play a critical role in the market.

MICA's Masters of Professional Studies in Information Visualization (MPS InViz) graduate program is uniquely designed to engage both the left and the right side of the brain—connecting the understanding of science, technology, industry, and information/data analysis to principles and practices of design.

Because the degree is primarily online, it is ideal for working professionals anywhere in the country. During the intensive 14-month program, students gain core training in principles, methods, and tools to create well-designed visuals that communicate a powerful and compelling story.

The 3.5 day on-campus residencies provide essential experience for students to meet, collaborate, and build a potential network of colleagues who identify with and understand the complexities of using information and data sets in creative and dynamic ways to communicate visually.

The faculty are professionals in the content area they are teaching so students learn from real-world experience and receive real-world answers to their questions.

Upon completion, students graduate with not only a degree but a portfolio of research and analysis projects, and well-conceived visualizations.
