I’m a smartphone artist, illustrator and graphic designer. In addition to working in an unconventional medium, I pride myself on being able to do a bit of everything, including web design, coding, watercolor and digital painting. The ability to communicate visually in a number of ways, crossing cultural and linguistic boundaries is something that I’m constantly striving to develop and improve upon. I approach the multifaceted nature of human emotion in illustrated narratives of mental, physical and emotional experiences by utilizing visual art and design as prosocial means of expression for non-verbal communication and introspection. My work utilizes the languages of simple shapes, color, physical expression and iconography in playful, approachable and relatable ways.
My creative process always starts with asking myself how I might express our shared humanity through my work. As humans, we have an innate need for connection, acknowledgement and validation. We seek it in the media we consume and through our relationships with others, though we may not always be able to express our needs or understand the needs of others. I feel that visual art and design can help us cross these boundaries of understanding and help us identify with each other by placing a tangible and relatable emphasis on our many shared experiences. By utilizing many different artistic skill sets and mediums, I’m able to find and explore many different visual languages to help connect audiences of various ages, cultural identities and life experiences. Through every connection, we become another step closer to creating a much more understanding and empathetic society.
