What does it mean to miss someone? How do we maintain fulfilling friendships through the course of our lives? In this zine, I reflect on the experience of holding onto relationships that are susceptible to being swept away by time and space. The transient moments in dreams mirror those we spend with the people we love. A reminder of this impermanence, imbued in wabi-sabi, can encourage us to revisit precious memories of and extend overdue check-ins to friends we do not want to lose.
My interest in children’s books and building my own narratives, characters, and worlds culminated in the creation of this work. The characters in the zine were sculpted into 3D forms to bring them to life and embrace imperfection in the hand-making process.
