Statement
I am interested in exploring the human experience, especially in relation to music and how it has the ability to foster a sense of connectedness. My love of electronic music is a jumping off point to enter a meditative state where my hand is directed through painting to interact with different performative mythologies (rituals) and healing practices. Their formlessness and towering scale mirror the sensation of losing oneself in the ocean of the dance floor. They are built mark upon mark in gestural allusions to dancing. Hieroglyphic-like motifs of dancers, animal-like patterns and vegetal subtropical life are suggested for an instant. They are evocative of the timeless ancestral connections to celebration that we partake in when we dance.
