1. MICA.edu Email Address and Student Account
In early June, our office will be setting up and assigning MICA.edu email addresses and login credentials. You will receive an automated email from MICA's system with instructions on how to proceed. If you have not received your email address by June 10, 2020, please email help@mica.edu.
Once your MICA.edu email address is assigned, that will become the primary contact address for all MICA campus business--so getting that operational is an important next step. If you already have a MICA.edu account for any reason, you will not receive new instructions--your existing account will be transitioned to a graduate account.
2. Registration and Class Selection
Registration for all incoming students won't really get started until July. However, the Office of Graduate Studies will begin distributing information about registration throughout the month of June. At this point, there isn't anything you need to do to be prepared.
The Office of Graduate Studies will distribute program-specific registration guides in June. If you have questions or concerns about the registration process, don't hesitate to contact Graduate Studies at graduatestudies@mica.edu.
3. Health Forms
All incoming graduate students are required to submit a health history form, whether you intend to use MICA’s health insurance or not. You can download the health history form here, and return it to the Office of Student Affairs at studentaffairs@mica.edu once it is complete.
4. On-Campus Housing
The Office of Residence Life offers limited on-campus housing for graduate students. For more information on housing options, you can visit our Housing for Graduate Students page. If you're planning to apply for on-campus housing for the fall semester, we recommend submitting the $550 housing deposit ($250 refundable damage deposit and $300 non-refundable reservation deposit) with your tuition deposit. If the Office of Residence Life is unable to place you in campus housing, the deposit is fully refundable. If you withdraw your application for on-campus housing, the Office of Residence Life will refund the $250 damage deposit. Take some time to explore the Housing for Graduate Students page to decide about on- or off-campus housing before submitting your deposit. Any questions about on-campus housing can be directed to residencelife@mica.edu.
5. Off-Campus Housing
Many graduate students opt to live off-campus. There are many resources that can help you locate available apartments. The Office of Graduate Admission maintains a Graduate Housing Facebook Group to connect you with current students and staff. The Office of Residence Life also facilitates a Facebook Group that is directed primarily toward undergraduate students. You can also download the frequently-updated Graduate Off-Campus Housing Guide here.
