Once shadowed and foreboding, the alleyways along Trenton Street in Baltimore now burst with creative energy, transformed by MICA alum and Baltimore artist, Jaz Erenberg ’17 (Interdisciplinary Sculpture BFA). The façades of two buildings, revitalized in Spring 2024, are now emblazoned with highly contrasting colors and rainbow-patterned lines with each color representing the diverse ethnic tapestry of the neighborhood residents.

Erenberg’s work, a concrete mosaic of lines and colors, not only decorates but narrates — each raylike stripe weaving a story of local ethnic contributions toward inclusivity and unity. The murals, sprawling across walls and bending around corners, create a visual journey that invites and intrigues, transforming once-graffitied spaces into a celebration of art and culture. These artworks, amid repaved streets and enhanced lighting, invite passersby into a dynamic kaleidoscope of colors, where each hue symbolizes Erenberg’s commitment to using art to bridge communities and beautify spaces, enriching Baltimore’s urban fabric.

This project is supported by the Baltimore Community Foundation and the Baltimore National Heritage Area, as an effort to revitalize urban landscapes, turning neglected spaces into hubs of unity and artistry.
