Please read this message in its entirety—this communication applies to College operations for only today, Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
MICA will close today at 1:00 pm. All classes will conclude at 1pm. In-person evening classes are canceled, but classes may shift to online. Please look for a communication from your course instructor.
To accommodate on-campus and telework employees who may be experiencing weather-event-related challenges—for example: dependents with delayed school openings or school closures or safety concerns about the physical commute to or from campus—liberal leave is in effect. Employees who are teleworking or can transition to telework should continue to work as normal. Remote and online learning will continue as scheduled. Students are expected to attend classes if they are moved to online. Liberal leave means that an employee can use their individual accrued leave (personal, floating, or vacation) for hours not worked today, that accommodates their individual situation during a weather event. This applies to on-campus and telework employees. If an individual decides to take leave or if a telework employee needs to flex their working hours, it is expected that they inform and communicate with their department or supervisors so that appropriate coverage and planning can occur.
Required Attendance Personnel should report as scheduled or assigned.
Academic buildings will close and be locked at 1:00 pm.
Dining Services
Meyerhoff Dining Room will be open for normal hours, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (lunch) and 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. (dinner). Glace Grill is closed today. Cafe Doris will close when academic buildings close.
Transportation Services
MICA Circulator Shuttle services will be suspended at 2:00 pm, one hour after academic buildings close. Evening Safety Shuttle service will be suspended until further notice. In the event of an emergency, please contact Campus Safety. Changes to Evening Safety Shuttle services, based on road conditions, will be communicated through the TransLocapp and will be posted on MICA’s website.
Since conditions around campus may change throughout the day, MICA will continue to monitor the evolving situation, and will send further communications via email, on the MICA / App, on the website at www.mica.edu and on the College’s social media channels if there are any updates.
Please use caution and your best judgment when traveling. Stay safe.
If you have questions, please contact departments directly or partner organization websites for updated information or cancellations.
