Join us as we explore how Comic-Con culture went from niche to mainstream, exploring the rising phenomenon of comic-con culture, a genre of fan devotion that's reached an international critical mass. Together with Michael A. Elliott, Professor of Sociology at Towson University, we will delve into the role that fandom plays in people's lives and why they become devoted fans of a particular genre of popular culture. The event will also include two short film screenings (25 mins total), featuring works by artists AA Cheng and Skawennati.
