Alex Valentine is an artist, publisher, and designer. His recent work employs commercial print technologies and cyber graphic mark-making to create visualizations of the interaction between humans and touch interfaces. With special attention to color and pattern-rhythms, Valentine layers and excerpts sections of his own limited edition prints, to index and reflect upon formal image production. He is a co-founder with Aay Preston-Myint, of No Coast Editions, a publisher of artist's editions and books. He also serves as co-director of the Chicago Art Book Fair, an annual showcase of emerging directions and diverse legacies within small arts publishing. Valentine has presented his printed work nationally in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Minneapolis, and internationally in Den Haag, Tokyo, and London. He is currently the Printshop Coordinator and a Senior Critic in Painting/Printmaking at the Yale School of Art.
