The exhibition Material Change by Audrey Naiva will be on display from November 8 - December 3 in the Meyerhoff Piano Gallery gallery. An opening reception will be held on November 12 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.Exhibition Statement: Material Change is a series of woven works born out of the constraints, conditions, and challenges brought about by the last year. A woven cloth has a warp and a weft. These sets of threads overlap, intersect, and become a vessel for multiple truths. Yet, from a distance, a cloth appears to be a single truth, a so-called fact taken for granted. Examined more closely, the threads are parts that make up the whole story. I am used to holding multiple truths at once. I have always found myself at the cross section of multiple communities, yet as an individual, I am the few stray wefts that unravel when the cloth is cut. When we combine the varying warps and wefts of our truth together, we can fabricate material change. This is a Student Space Gallery exhibition.
