Students in MICA’s MFA in Curatorial Practice program complete curatorial projects and collaborate with artists, organizations, and venues. Each student works in a variety of contexts and formats while forging partnerships across audiences and communities.
A Gentle Excavation, curated by Allie Linn, transforms 235 Park Avenue into an incubator for site-specific research, installation, and intervention in order to reflect on the building’s history as a site for quotidian labor and business. Variously exploring the labor politics of domestic space, the distinction between memory and history, and methods of queering space, the works in A Gentle Excavation straddle the line between materiality and ephemerality, offering subtle and poetic alterations to the architectural site.
