In late February 2022, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine resulted in the destruction of the Ivankiv Historical and Local History Museum, located northwest of the capital city of Kyiv. The museum housed 25 works by Ukrainian folk artist Maria Prymachenko whose work has become a symbol of Ukrainian hope and resilience. In the face of war and conflict, the preservation of art and culture becomes paramount. This display honors the work made by Ukrainian artists, from the artifacts and folk art of the nomadic Scythians and Hutsuls to contemporary artists working today. From April 18 - May 13, 2022, the Decker Library will host a new display of collection items that explore Ukrainian arts and culture. Curated by Mary Alessi and Tannaz Motevalli.
