Design for Industry 2025

Date
April 1, 2025 – April 10, 2025
Location
Dolphin Gallery
100 Dolphin St

In this collaboration with Emeco, a world-class furniture manufacturer and a leader in sustainable furniture design and craftsmanship, students were tasked with becoming experts in Emeco's core values, manufacturing processes, and design aesthetics to pitch a new product for their catalog.

The project began with extensive market research, design inspiration, form studies, and brainstorming to inspire design direction. Throughout the process, students were expected to engage in material analysis and user testing, while adhering to the design constraints of working with aluminum.

Final presentations were delivered in-person at the Emeco factory in Hanover, PA to the Emeco team Gregg and Jane Buchbinder. Students showcased each design’s key features, target market, and intended function through compelling visual formats-including product renderings, important manufacturing details, and context images. By the end of the project, students developed a refined portfolio asset and gained valuable real-world experience in design consulting, working within industry expectations and delivering a professional pitch.

Check out the results of this collaboration in the Dolphin Gallery from April 1 - April 10, 2025 (Dolphin Design Center, Floor 1).
