Phaan Howng: The Succession of Nature

From November 3, 2017 — August 31, 2018

The third iteration of the Commons Collaboration kicks off with an exciting project from Baltimore-based artist Phaan Howng in collaboration with Blue Water Baltimore. For this project, Howng creates an immersive environment with intense, unnatural colors inspired by toxic waste. Through her partnership with Blue Water Baltimore, Howng will highlight local environmental issues and create a space and suite of programs to raise awareness about Baltimore's waterways.

About the Artist

Phaan Howng is a painter and installation artist. She received her BFA in Painting from Boston University and her MFA in Multi-Disciplinary Art from the Mount Royal School of Art at MICA. Howng's practice has also expanded into sculpture and performance. She has exhibited all over the East Coast at venues including the Satellite Art Fair in Miami, Re: Art Show in Brooklyn, and School 33 Art Center in Baltimore. Howng also currently works as a staff member and as adjunct faculty for MICA in Graduate Studies.
