Statement
Alexander Paul Henderson has always been fascinated with pop culture and history. In his previous work he has poked fun at celebrities, the music industry, and b movies. As well as exploring identity and the idea of personas. Henderson’s current work focuses on the censorship of queer people in social media. He wanted to draw attention to a topic that was not mainstream information. Even the social media giants Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube have deliberately censor queer content creators. TikTok released a statement saying it was simply to protect users from bullying. Henderson created a series of videos that show queer people being censored and having their identity erased through editing and manipulation. Each video is 30 seconds in length and non platform specific.
