This work explores morality through myth and the influence they have to express visions of reality which form values and behavior. In narratives, the endurance of pain the body, soul, and spirit feels leads the protagonist to search for peace and enlightenment at the end of these lifelong trials. Through this affliction, the protagonist is granted a release that could only be known through the experience of distress. Through my study of narrative, religion, and anthropology I synthesize what teaches us to be human into my own narratives and perspectives. I appropriate the format of sequential art practices of film storyboarding and graphic novels to give the work its narrative quality. I am using the tools of digital fabrication as a material exploration that translates the work into sculptural drawings that neighbor a more traditional medium of oil painting on canvas.
