I transform and beautify my formative memories of growing up in Texas using beading, delicate paper sculpture, and vibrant colors to pay homage to the natural elements of my home. Specifically, I examine how themes of local ecology and landscape populate and infiltrate my childhood experiences. Utilizing the soft and tactile properties of textiles alongside colorful paintings and artificial plants, I recreate an environmental landscape based on a collective of imprecise memories. The layering of markers and gouache allows for loose, fluid lines that accentuate the lack of structure or clarity when it comes to memory recall.
