Purpose
The purpose of the President’s Global Advisory Council shall be to assist, support and advocate for the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) on matters that will strengthen the College mission for its students and the communities served by the College. The primary functions of the President’s Global Advisory Council are to (1) be a resource to the President on significant issues, (2) assist MICA in building positive relationships with its external constituents, and (3) support the College’s philanthropic efforts.
Guidelines
The Chair oversees the President's Global Advisory Council (P.G.A.C.) of leading community members with a strong interest in MICA’s success. These individuals will be invited as outstanding members of their communities and leaders in their professional fields. They will share an interest in advancing MICA's mission and vision for integrative art and design education. Members are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the President. The usual term of membership is two years and members will ordinarily serve no more than two consecutive terms. Members may recommend to the Chair individuals to serve on the P.G.A.C.
Members of the President's Global Advisory Council are expected to:
- Learn about the major issues facing the College;
- Serve as informed advocates to its various constituencies in art, design, creative agency, business, government and the nonprofit sector;
- Support MICA's efforts to secure external funding;
- Provide counsel and advice as need to the College;
- Attend the P.G.A.C.'s annual meeting – “The Summit” – October 1, 2021*
* A new members' orientation will be scheduled once per year or as necessary to provide background on MICA's mission, function, organization and challenges.

P.G.A.C. members will: (job description)
- Serve a two-year term, comprised of community members representing diverse interests (alumni, parents, friends, educators, cultural community leaders and corporate representatives)
- Participate in the implementation of the 2021-2026 Strategic Plan initiatives
- Work with the council to prepare strategic recommendations to leadership
- Actively relay priorities to the community and interest groups
- Be asked for financial contributions in support of MICA initiatives*
- Attend and support MICA activities whenever possible
- Participate in an activity such as:
- P.G.A.C. Summit (once-a-year) with MICA leadership
- Distinguished Speaker Series
- MICA Weekend
- ArtWalk and other special exhibitions
- Career Development panelist
- Participate in an activity such as:
*personal giving is not an expectation for membership
