Design Leadership MA/MBA

David Gracyalny Design Leadership Advisory Board

The David Gracyalny Design Leadership Advisory Board is composed of industry professionals with diverse backgrounds, bringing expertise in strategic design, entrepreneurship, leadership, technology, management, and venture capital. The board's mission is to provide guidance, advice, and support to the MICA side of the Design Leadership MA/MBA dual degree program with Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. This ensures the program prepares students with the competencies and outcomes that best serve them and society upon graduation.

The late David Gracyalny, former Vice Provost of MICA's Open Studies division, was a driving force behind the creation of the MA/MBA program. His vision brought together two esteemed Baltimore institutions— MICA, a leading art and design school, and Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, a part of the world-renowned research university. This board is named in his honor to recognize his pivotal role in establishing this unique partnership. The Design Leadership MA/MBA is a dual degree program where graduates earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and a Master of Art (MA) in Design Leadership from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
