Jackie Milad is a Baltimore City-based artist whose mixed-media abstract paintings and collages address the layers, history and complexities surrounding multi-ethnic identity. She has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions nationally and internationally. Select exhibitions include Harvey B. Gantt Center (Charlotte, NC), Grizzly Grizzly (Philadelphia, PA), Loyola University Maryland (Baltimore, MD), The Walters Art Museum (Baltimore, MD), Baltimore Museum of Art (Baltimore, MD), Arthur Ross Gallery University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA), Museo de Arte de Mazatlan (Mazatlan, MX), and DiFOCUR de Sinaloa Sala de Arte Joven Galleria (Culiacan, MX). Milad is a multi-year recipient of the individual Artist Grant from Maryland State Arts Council. In 2019 she was named a Janet & Walter Sondheim Prize Finalist and a Robert W. Deutsch Foundation Ruby Grantee. Milad received her BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, and her MFA from Towson University. She is currently represented by SOCO Gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina and De Buck Gallery in New York, NY.
Jackie has been an active curator for twenty years and has held Curatorial positions for institutions such as Goucher College, University of Maryland in College Park and Delaware Contemporary. Along with MFAST, Jackie also currently teaches in the Curatorial Practice MFA program at MICA, and until August 2021, served MICA for five years as a fine arts Career Advisor in the Career Development Office. Jackie is a proud mom to her son Piero, and sighthounds, Leica and Ootini.
