MICA Professional Studies Unconference

An Unconference for interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and building connections across industries for students and alumni of Open Studies graduate programs.

Where?   In Baltimore on MICA’s campus. 

When?   Sunday, September 10 from 11am-6pm.

Events will include:

 

Take note that the MICA Store is not open on Sundays, but it will be open Saturday 12-5pm. 

Unconferences are Participant-Driven

Propose an unconference discussion topic-- we'll vote on the day of the event-- or sign up to present a short, 5-minute lightning talk!

Note: Please refer to this schedule document, which will be updated once topics are selected, during the event. 
 
10:30am: Check-in Begins (Brown Center, Leidy Atrium)

11-12:30pm: Facilitated Networking (Brown Center, Lower Level)

12:30-1:30 Lunch (Brown Center, Lower Level and Leidy Atrium)

1:30-4:30: Unconference Discussions (Bunting Center, 4th floor: rooms will be assigned after topic voting)

  • 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm - Session 1 
  • 2:45 pm - 3:00 pm - Break
  • 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm - Session 2 

4:15-4:30: Return to Brown Center (Optional: Walk through current exhibits in the Fox Building, Meyerhoff and Decker Galleries, on the way)

4:30-6:00: Networking Happy Hour (Brown Center, Leidy Atrium)

Events will start in the Brown Center (enter through the Fox Building), continue in Bunting, and end back in Brown. 

Free parking will be available on campus during the day (no overnight parking) in the Mosher Lot, located at 1531 Malster Ave. Parking permits will be emailed to registrants to print in advance, and will be available at check-in for those without printer access. 

Free street parking is also available all along W. Mount Royal Ave, northbound.

If you're looking for a bit more of a splurge that's still walkable, try:

MICA has negotiated discounts with a number of area hotels. To access them, book online using the links listed on the Maryland Institute College of Art Area Hotels webpage.

Campus Safety, the office that administers ID cards, will not be open on Sundays. However, we have arranged for building access for all attendees regardless.
