Statement
My project analyzes the career of Serena Williams through the lens of her comebacks. I explore this through a series of paintings designed to inspire others by Serena Williams and how her power, skill, and tenacity in the face of adversity drove her to become a legend. I’ve chosen to explore her comebacks on both a macro and micro level, exploring the comebacks she’s had within her career as a whole as well as notable comebacks within specific matches. I envision this painting series as a part of a larger exploration of other notable tennis figures, illustrating their major setbacks and comebacks. This larger exhibit would be included at Grand Slam events which typically include an art/entertainment component, particularly the US Open.
