This Capstone project attempts to highlight the women whose works are in the NGA’s permanent collection. Their lives and careers are represented visually to allow viewers the opportunity to understand the ongoing disparities in gender equality within a museum’s permanent collection. The names of these individual artists are presented to viewers for a greater understanding of how these women persevered through history to overcome the barriers placed on them by society to become professionals in the arts. My goal is that the information gathered and displayed will create curiosity and interest to learn more about the female artists at the National Gallery of Art, as well as other amazing female artists who are represented within the collections of other museums.
