Why are we getting Amazon Lockers?
MICA would like to offer its stakeholders more delivery options for some Amazon orders, rather than being limited to the Residence Hall Package Room hours of Monday through Friday, 10-5.
Where are the lockers located?
Amazon will be installing a set of Amazon Lockers at Gateway, Meyerhoff House and Founders' Green.
Gateway (called "utilisation"), at 1601 W Mount Royal Ave, Lobby
Founders' Green (called, "cool"), at 120 McMechen St, Latrobe House Lobby
Meyerhoff (name “thimble”).
When is the locker...?
Installation: Amazon Locker installation will begin March 5, 2025 in Gateway and Founders’ Green , Latrobe House lobby (available for use on or after 3/7 ), and March 11, 2025 in Meyerhoff House lobby (available for use on or after 3/13). When you see each location appear as an Amazon Locker delivery option, then they will be ready to receive packages.
Delivery/Pick-up Window: Delivery hours are set as 7 AM to 9 PM, 7 days a week. You can pick up packages at any time, if you have access to the MICA building in question.
Who can use the lockers?
MICA students living on and off campus, faculty and staff--anyone who has MICA building access can use the lockers. If you live on campus but have something small that you need in the evening or over the weekend, the locker may be your solution. If you are a student living off campus, you can use the Amazon locker for secure and convenient delivery. Faculty and Staff with weekend or evening hours may choose to get their personal orders sent to the lockers (see exclusions below).
Amazon has allowed us to list these lockers as not open to the public. There will be a box to check pledging that you have access to the building where the lockers are located (inside). If you check the box but you don't have access, then please don't try to make a case to our Campus Safety staff that you have permission to enter our Residence Halls. Instead, please contact Amazon to retrieve your package and redeliver it to another location (your home address or a public Amazon Locker).
How does it work?
When ordering from Amazon, you can choose the Locker location of your choice as a delivery option. If the locker reads full at the point of sale or the point of delivery, Amazon will automatically choose the next available locker at the closest location. Carriers (Amazon drivers, USPS, UPS or FedEx) will take your package directly to the locker, scan it in and put it in a locker. You will receive a notification telling you that your package has arrived at the locker, with a pin or key code. Use your MICA building access to get into the appropriate Residence Hall, then locate the Locker in the lobby. You can scan the pin or code at the locker and the correct locker door pops open. Retrieve your package and close the locker door.

Q & A
Do I have to use the lockers if I order from Amazon/live at the residence hall?
- No. Not all items qualify for Locker delivery and the lockers cannot take non-Amazon purchases. You can continue to use your Residence Hall address and pick up packages from the package room, or the Postal & Print address if you live off campus. (See our page on Receiving Packages).
Will the package rooms close now?
- The Residence Hall Package Rooms will continue to be in use to receive non-Amazon and non-qualifying Amazon packages as well as letter mail deliveries, during our hours of operation, Mon-Fri, 10-5 (August to May).
- Postal & Print will continue to close the Residence Hall package rooms over the summer. As long as there is a Campus Safety presence at the Residence Hall, which is usually year-round, the Amazon Package Lockers will remain open for use.
What if I'm not a part of MICA, but I live in the neighborhood. Can I still use the lockers?
- No. The lockers are for MICA use only and not open to the public. Amazon has set up a box to check to confirm you have access to our residence halls.
What if the locker location is full?
- If the carrier arrives at a full location, then they can redirect the package to an alternate location on campus. Your notification and pick-up information will inform you of the location change. Amazon has asked the carriers not to leave packages on the floor around the lockers nor leave them with Campus Safety or the Residence Hall Package Rooms.
What if I can't pick up my package?
- Packages left too long in the lockers (72 hours) will be picked up by Amazon. You'll need to contact Amazon customers service to discuss refund or redelivery: 1-877-346-6244.
What is the role of MICA Postal & Print?
- Postal & Print will inform Amazon of building hour changes
- Amazon has instructed Postal & Print not to handle/accept or answer inquiries about Locker Packages.
What if my package is missing, mis-delivered, damaged or empty, or I had multiple packages, but only took on out of the locker?
- For all inquiries about packages, please contact Amazon Customer Services directly at 1-877-346-6244.
