WERC membership reflects a pan-college, "One-MICA" approach. Members represent faculty and staff from a range of departments and areas of work.

Director, Network Services

David works in the Technology department and  mostly on the back end (non- customer facing). David focuses on network and telephone availability, network security, and storage.  As part of his work, David visits every building the college owns that needs monitoring.

Fun fact: David loves the Ravens and the Orioles even on a down year.

Student Development Specialist

Louise came to MICA in July 2018 after completing her Ed.M in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies: Higher Education Administration at Boston University. In her role as the SDS, Louise works directly with students to help them manage concerns that are impacting their academic success, well-being, and enjoyment of their time at MICA. These can range from struggles with mental and medical health to financial and family issues.

Fun fact: Louise coaches women's rugby at Towson University!

Director of Marketing and Recruitment

Sabrina is responsible for creating & executing brand and marketing strategies within the academic unit, which serves over 800 individuals ages 5 to 99+ to pursue and enroll in an art or design course each year.

 She also serves as an advisory board member and mentor for several local non-profits and impact-driven organizations, which include Bridges Baltimore, Innovation Works, and the She Builds Global Initiative. 

 She received her BBA in Marketing from Florida International University.

Fun fact: Sabrina's first job out of college was working with the Miami HEAT NBA basketball team. She received a 2012 Championship ring!

Graduate Enrollment Advisor

LaShay has spent the last ten years studying black women's sexuality and contraceptive voices. She has a Master's degree in Education and is a PhD candidate in Human Sexuality Studies and has 19 years of experience as an educator and currently teaches at The University of Baltimore and Towson University. She also advises graduate students at MICA.  LaShay was born and raised in the deep South, believes tea should be sweet, and grits should be served with salt, pepper, and butter.

Associate Director of Financial Aid, Financial Aid Department

Worked in the financial aid career field in higher education for over 30 years.  United States Air Force veteran.  Business major.

Fun fact: Enjoys music and a dog lover. 

Director of Strategic Projects

Kevin's work focuses on community engagement, strategic planning, and external partnerships. Prior to joining the MICA staff, Kevin directed community investment at the Baltimore Community Foundation and advocated at the state level on issues such as public education, workforce development,  and corrections policy. He serves on the boards of CASA de Maryland and Station North Arts District.

Event Coordinator & Art Market Manager

Emma supports MICA's campus through facilitating and coordinating events with MICA departments and administration, and external clients. Emma is the primary contact for coordinating events for Student Affairs. In addition, Emma organizes, implements, and manages MICA's annual Art Market.

Fun fact: Emma started her first herb & veggie garden this year!

Director, Decker Library

Heather Slania received her Bachelor’s degree in 2000 from Northwestern University where she double majored in Performance Studies and Art Theory & Practice studying with artists such as Ed Paschke and Mary Zimmerman. She received her Master’s in Library Science from the University of Maryland in 2007 concentrating in Archives, Records, and Information Management. Her previous positions include Library Director at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Art Research and Instruction Librarian at Georgetown University, and the Special Collections Cataloger at the University of Maryland. She has written about archiving Internet Art and artists’ websites as well as being a proponent for Wikipedia Edit-a-thons in art libraries. She is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and would most want Francis Bacon to paint her portrait.

Executive Director Corporate, Foundation, Government Relations & Major Gifts

Fundraising professional for over 25 years working in higher education and arts and cultural organizations through Maryland.  Art History and Business major with focus on painting and marketing.
