The purpose of the On-Line Journal for Art Education, published by MICA's nationally renowned Center for Art Education, is to share the work of our faculty, students, and alumni study groups with the larger field of art education.
Here you will find resources for teaching which can be downloaded for use in the classroom. Over time, we hope to expand the resources to include the publication of action-based research, interdisciplinary units, reports from new study groups, and links to other sources. Available and forthcoming items are listed below. Please return again to see what is new.
The Online Journal of Art Education, and its accompanying series of occasional monographs, are made possible through a gift from MICA Art Education alumnus Charles Ellerin '41, founder of Chaselle, one of the nation's largest classroom art supply distributors.
The Center for Art Education, situated within one of the nation's leading professional colleges of art, administers four master's programs-Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), Summer Master of Arts in Art Education, Summer Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art, and the Master of Arts in Community Arts-manages the College's distinguished young people's studios program, works with MICA's Community Arts Partnerships program, and orchestrates teacher study groups and pedagogical exhibitions. The Center shares its work with the larger field of art education through professional development programs, periodic monographs, and the On-Line Journal for Art Education. All efforts demonstrate the Center's commitment to studio-based, learner-centered, integrative approaches to teaching that foster deep and holistic learning in school and community settings.
