Fall 2024 Closing Memo

Dear Residents,

As we approach the end of the semester, we want to share some reminders and some details regarding departing at the end of this semester and returning for the Spring 2025 semester. Please review all of the information shared below!

Residence Halls Closing

Residence Halls will close at 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 14th, 2024. We expect all residents to depart from their assigned residence hall room prior to this time. Any residents that remain on campus without approvals will be charged with an improper checkout and are subject to fees for additional time within the residence halls. You do not need to return your keys or ID Cards, please take them with you and store them in a safe place until you return to campus in the spring.

 Spring Intent Form

In order to better understand our available space for the spring semester, we have instituted a Spring Intent Form. This form must be completed by all residents, whether or not you will be returning to on-campus housing for the Spring 2025 semester. Please note that if you will be attending MICA for the Spring 2025 semester, your Housing Agreement is still active until the end of the Spring 2025 semester!

If you are not returning to MICA for the spring semester (taking a Leave of Absence, withdrawing from MICA, are a current semester exchange student, or participating in an approved Study Abroad program (which warrants contract release without penalty), be sure to indicate it on the Spring Intent Form.

Once we receive responses from the Intent Form, we will follow up with those residents who will not be living on campus in the spring semester and provide them with additional instructions.

 Winter Housing

Winter Housing will be available starting Sunday, December 15, 2024 and will end on Friday, January 17, 2025. If you would like to apply to stay on campus for any time during this period, you can apply here

 24 Hour Quiet Hours

As students prepare for their final projects and exams, we are entering 24-Hour Quiet Hours. 24 Hour Quiet Hours will be in effect beginning Saturday, December 7, 2024 and will remain in effect for the rest of the Fall 2024 semester. This is a great, peaceful way to provide care for the greater community during a time that can be stressful. Any violations of the Quiet Hour Policy will be documented and referred to the Student Conduct Process.

End of Semester Departure Checklist

The Fall 2024 End of Semester Departure Checklist details our expectations for the state of the units upon closing. Ensure that you are speaking with your apartment-mates now in order to divide the responsibilities for preparing your apartment for inspection. Please check in with your RAs if you have any questions or concerns.

 Welcoming You Back!

Returning Residents will be permitted to return to housing at MICA  after 12:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025. You may return at your convenience as you will keep possession of your keys and ID cards. Access to the Residence Halls will open up at that time. Each resident is expected to confirm their arrival by scanning check-in QR codes (posted in several locations) by Friday, January 24th, 2025.

We hope that you have a successful end to the fall semester. Our office is open during regular business hours if you have questions. Can't make it to the office to see us in person? Send us an email at residencelife@mica.edu!

We look forward to continuing to support you through this semester and we are already filled with excitement to welcome you back in January!
