Founders Green — designed to foster connections among first year students to MICA — is a lively residential complex with five buildings, two- or three-bedroom apartments, and a central courtyard.
Amenities include recreational spaces (both indoors and out), studios to work on projects, gallery space, a black box theater, lecture hall, laundry facilities, and late night grill.
The five buildings – Latrobe House, Carter Hall, Spear Hall, Glace Hall, and Leake Hall– are named for pivotal figures in MICA’s history, including John H. B. Latrobe, MICA’s founder.
Spear Hall
Spear Hall is named for Julia Spear, who introduced programming for women at MICA, and revolutionized the College's curriculum.
Carter Hall
Carter Hall was named for former Board President John M. Carter. He'd secured funding to build the Main Building because the College's original location was destroyed in the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904.
Glace Hall
Glace Hall was named for Margaret Glace, the first female dean of an art school in 1948.
Leake Hall
Leake Hall was named for Eugen W. "Bud" Leake, whom was president of the Maryland Institute in 1963.
