MICA requires the completion of all teaching certification requirements prior to graduation. Use this section to review Praxis requirements and plan for the required certification examinations in the state of Maryland.
The Praxis II (#5135) is the Content Area Assessment exam needed to qualify for teacher certification in the state of Maryland. As a state-approved certification program for the state of Maryland, the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T. ) program at MICA requires the completion of all teaching certification requirements prior to graduation. This includes, but is not limited to, the successful completion of the Praxis II examination.
Praxis II is the art subject area test which must be passed prior to completion of the MAT. Praxis II must be passed in the spring of the first year for two year students and in spring of the senior year for 5 year students.
